Tong Kah Marine Pte Ltd was incorporated in 1965, and started its operations at a shipyard in Punggol. We have almost 42 years of experience involving the construction of various types of vessels such as the flat-top and oil barges, tugboats, supply boats and landing crafts to cater for the Malaysian, Indonesian and Middle Eastern markets.

During these periods, we have constructed hundreds of vessels comprising of deck and oil barges of various sizes from 100 ft to 300 ft length overalls, tugboats from 600 hp to 3,000 hp to tow barges supporting the logging operation and transporting of construction sand and granite from Indonesia to Singapore.

In the mid seventies, oil exploration worldwide was at the upswing from Middle East region to Asia Pacific waters. We managed to achieve good business transactions securing plenty of orders and good profit returns due to higher oil prices.

In 1997, we ventured into the China market to source for various vessels to supplement the supply from our local market. We bought several units of bigger barges of 300 ft range and tugboats of 2400 hp to 3000 hp and resold them to Indonesian clients that want to operate in carrying Indonesian steam coal for local and overseas demand.

Due to increasing demand for vessels, we have leased four hectares of leasehold land in Batam to open our own shipyard to cater to increased marine activities.

In Oct 2007 we have delivered one unit 4,725 dwt container ship from China costing S$7.0 million. We are now in the process of constructing ten units of 300 ft barges costing S$24.0 millions from China and five (5) unit of tugs 2,000 hp costing S$4.0 millions from Sibu, Sarawak.

Our directors have many years of experience in the shipbuilding and repairing industries. They are supported by a couple of technical staffs to ensure the smooth operation of the companies’ activities.
